Accelerating the Impact of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa

Improving smallholder livelihoods and food security

Innovation Challenge

Accelerating the Impact of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa (AICCRA) is an initiative that enhances access to climate information services (CIS) and validates climate-smart agriculture (CSA) technologies in Africa.

With its presence in six countries, AICCRA collaborates with four themes – Knowledge, Partnerships, Innovation, and Gender and social inclusion to ensure that CIS-CSA is more accessible to millions of smallholder farmers on the continent.

In Zambia, AICCRA works with Zambian partners by scaling actionable climate information services and climate-smart agriculture technologies which promote gender and social inclusion.

In accordance with this, AICCRA is seeking opportunities for collaboration by partnering with BongoHive in implementing this innovation challenge.

AICCRA-Zambia aims to generate innovations that through these value-creating interactions, can tap into non-traditional methods that will accelerate its capacity, strategy, products, services and programmes. This will sustainably add to the Zambian agricultural economy by promoting and prioritising local solutions in the most cost-effective manner.

  • How might we improve access to information about CSA/CIS among key stakeholders in Zambia?
  • How might we ensure knowledge exchange and transfer of CSA/CIS despite ‘brain drain’?
  • How might we effectively communicate previous/similar intervention successes with farmers in remote areas to establish buy-in and improve yield?
